We are heading down to San Diego on January 25, 2020 to support a family in being Missionary-ish in their community. Our friends Dave and Judy are opening up their home for a simple meal together in hopes that we can love on the international student community. Just to give you a heads up on who we are interacting with, our friend Dave shared this with us:

There are 15,000 international students every year in San Diego among the universities in San Diego. Many of them come from countries closed to the Gospel. Others come from countries where there are so few Christians their impressions of Christianity is nothing more than that portrayed by Hollywood movies. There are a few known facts about these students

  • They are often in the top 10% of their class academically in their own countries.

  • Many come from countries closed to the Gospel.

  • While American churches are spending tens of thousand dollars to send a missionary who often has to spend many years to learn their language and culture first before becoming effective in evangelism, these international students, if converted to Christianity, are automatically insiders and leaders when they return to their countries.

  • They have their hearts open and ready to listen to the Gospel.

  • They are right here in our backyard, and we are sharing Gospel with them on a shoestring budget (a warm homemade meal in an American home).

Dave and Judy have been inviting international students to their house for the past three years. They feed them and share the Gospel message with them every time they have a house event. Each year, the number has increased for international students coming to their home to learn about and celebrate holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Many international students would love to visit an American home for holidays they are away from their families, and we are thankful for the opportunity to invite them into our homes where they can connect with one another and hear the best news there is.

Events are great for families; children welcomed!
